The winners of the Jordan App & Web Awards (JAWA) 2014 were announced during a Gala Ceremony attended by over 300 IT and telecom professionals, on Sunday 8th of June.

This is the fifth consecutive event organized by MediaScope in cooperation with the Pan Arab Excellence Awards Academy and is the first and only awards event in Jordan that recognizes excellence in website and mobile applications design and development.

This year’s event received over 200 entries, representing more than forty development companies and various clients. The awards covered thirty eight sector-specific categories in websites, social media applications and mobile applications; in addition to special and honorary awards.

SYNTAX Design received the ‘Web Company of the Year’ award, while Media Plus was the first runner up, and Wunderman was the second runner up. The ‘App Company of the Year’ was awarded to Startappz, while BeeLabs was the first runner up, and Virtecha was the second runner up. The ranking was determined based on the number of gold, silver and bronze awards won by the participants.

Other special awards included the “Website of the Year” award that was presented to SYNTAX design website (www.syntaxdesign.com) and the “App of the Year Award” presented to “DomDomTak” by BeeLabs. There was also a special award category for the best Start-Up websites and apps, supported by Zain.

The Honorary awards were the “Strategic Website Award” received by the Royal Jordanian Website (www.rj.com) and “The Strategic App Award” received by Virtecha for the Dubai Municipality mobile application (iDubai).

The event was sponsored by Zain, Banque Audi, Ipsos, Arabia Weather and Ad Falcon. It was supported by The Ministry of ICT, int@j and the Jordan Computer Society.
