Members of Jordan’s advertising industry welcomed the Dubai Lynx Festival Director, Ms. Emma Farmer, on December 11, 2013, as part of a reception and screening event held at Grand Hyatt Amman, with the support of Orange.

The event was organized by MediaScope, the Jordan representative of Cannes Lions and Dubai Lynx Festivals, with the aim of informing Jordan’s creative community regarding the opportunities and requirements to participate in such regional and international advertising award ceremonies.

Creative staff and advertising agency heads listened to Ms. Farmer speak about the success of the Dubai Lynx Awards which started in 2007 and quickly grew into a full-fledged, four-day festival that received over 2000 entries from across the region by 2013. She also talked about the various festivals worldwide managed by Cannes Lions and how the number of awards won by MENA-based agencies significantly increased at the Cannes Lions festival since Dubai Lynx started.

Ms. Farmer went on to discuss the emphasis that Dubai Lynx places on talent and training through its high-quality education programs presented by inspiring industry figures and its range of exciting competitions and awards to showcase new talent such as the Young Lynx competitions and the Student Awards.

Also speaking at the event was Zeid Nasser, the Managing Director of MediaScope, who said “It is time for Jordanian creative work to compete to win regional and international awards. Entering the best work of local agencies into Dubai Lynx is the first step to do so, and we are confident that our leading agencies have produced several campaigns in 2013 that could merit accolades.”

The event concluded with a short screening of selected winners from Dubai Lynx and Cannes Lions 2013 which entertained the audience and demonstrated the quality of award winning work.

Dubai Lynx 2014 is currently open for entries, with the deadline set at 6 February, 2014. The festival takes place at Madinat Jumeira from 9 to 12 March, culminating with the awards gala night.
